Today, my boss told me that, while he respects the fact that I have my own style, I have to stop wearing "that hideous wig" because apparently, it "makes the clientele uncomfortable". I don't have a wig. It's my natural hair. FML

You just need to invest in a nice wig to cover up your "hideous wig" during work hours. Ask your accountant because you may be able to write it off your taxes as a business expense.

that's bull, op can definitely do something to style their hair for work. it sucks but unfortunately everyone bases 1st impressions off appearance, so when at work one is expected to look and act professional. even if that means wearing some dipshit uniform or styling your hair in a dumb way. I feel op's pain though, I have pretty long hair and get hassled for it at work all the time.

If the OP is a hairdresser, than she's her own walking advertisement. The boss has every right to inform her that his clientele are uncomfortable with her hairstyle choice. He's running a business. Ex: My coworkers have to remove their face piercing just because "some" guests might feel uncomfortable around them. Then they put it right back in the second they clock out. Your time is your time :P

Hairdressers often times do each other's hair. It might be more of an indication of how bad the other person is at it.
