Today, my boss asked me if I could work this weekend, doing the work of 2 people, for almost no extra pay. I had a weekend out with my kids planned, so I said I couldn't. My boss called it a shitty excuse, yet gave a free pass to a guy who claimed he had a "phobia of working on weekends". FML

Hahaha. What a pathetic excuse. Can't believe it actually worked. A "phobia of working on weekends". Dear god

I honestly cannot understand some bosses logics.

Wow... I wanna know why assholes like this are allowed to be a boss.

I really wonder how people like him come to power, what an ass

I would have told him that I have a phobia of doing a two man job and not getting paid for it

And the boss doesn't feel 1 bit bad about it?

he probably treats you like shit because he feels you won't stand up for yourself. I'd tell him where to stick it if I were you, but a safer bet would be to just call in sick. ya know, cause of your phobia of sharing illness.

Ah, phobias and religion: getting people out of work since 1918

You can call HR and claim that favoritism is being played.

A phobia of weekend work? Lame ass excuse but smart move as your boss was so stupid he believed it or just likes your coworker better than you. Either way. Good for you for sticking up for yourself and saying no. A lot of employers don't really appreciate the extra time their staff put in at the best of times. And why on earth would anyone work for very little extra compensation. Your boss is an ass. I hope you had a great weekend with your family.

Your boss sounds like Bill Lumbergh.
