Today, it's my birthday. I have been sick since mid December, and the antibiotics the doctor gave me make me puke. In other words, I can either cough and sneeze my lungs out, or take the antibiotic and puke my guts out. Happy birthday to me! FML.

Call your general practitioner's office. Inform the staff that the doctor prescribed you antibiotics for an infection, but that you are having an adverse reaction to it. Ask them to talk to him and see if he'll call in a different medication- there is almost always an alternative medication to treat an illness. If getting a different medication is impossible for whatever reason, you have no choice but to take AND finish the antibiotics. Not only could you be unable to fight the infection off without the medication, but you will remain contagious and spread it to other people for as long as you are ill. Worst case scenario could lead to pneumonia or even a collapsed lung. So if you do have to stick to the ones you already have, here's some stuff to help. 1: Buy some OTC Zantac, 150 mg. Take this twice a day, 30 minutes before breakfast, and 30 minutes before dinner. 2: Never take antibiotics on an empty stomach- you don't have to eat a full meal, a piece or two of toast, an apple, anything like that will help. 3: Drink at least 8 oz of water with each dose- 16 oz is better. Also, between doses, up your water intake from whatever it is when you're healthy. 4: Since your stomach is already upset, this should be obvious but don't eat heavy or spicy foods. Oil, peppers, acidic foods- avoid them until you are not only done with the course of antibiotics, but your stomach has healed. 5: If your stomach symptoms persist or get worse, call your doctor, describe the exact symptoms. There may be an additional problem at play, or you could have developed an illness that is the result of heavy antibiotic use. Hope you feel better, OP.

You do know you can call your dr if you're having a bad reaction and see if he can get you something that helps you without making you extremely sick? You can also ask and see if he can give you anti nausea medication as well if all antibiotics do that to you. You have options, you don't have to wallow in pain.
