Today, I was travelling from my house to my grandmas house on the train. The ticket inspector came along, and asked to see my ticket. I whipped out my prepaid ticket, and handed it to him. He looks at me and says "you're getting off at the next stop". I booked for the wrong day. I'm now stranded FML

Why would they let anyone on the train with the wrong ticket anyway? Seems like you could just travel 1 stop without paying at all.

In the UK they don't scan your ticket before you get on, they do it during the trip, so you can quite easily get on. You can even buy your ticket when you're actually on the way to your destination.

That is the same way it is here where I live. Which is in the US. Maybe #2 never took a train before.

I went to Boston and I got on the wrong train, but we were allowed to get back on the right train without paying again
