Rape has always been a 'thing' and diminishing a mugging by saying "at least it wasn't rape" is pretty ****** up. Not to mention it's pretty insulting to all sexual assault survivors to use it as a way to get a mugging victim to feel like they should be grateful it wasn't worse. Yuk.

I don't know much about rape but I would imagine for some survivors their dignity has not been taken away. Dignity is a hard word to define but I think it is linked to pride and being mugged, or raped or hit or verbally insulted - all these things could take away someone's dignity I guess, but not necessarily

And from what I gathered, OP was in the process of changing her tampon so... Yeah I'm thinking more like it was a sick cruel way of saying "HA. I just took all your shit AND I'm going to take your tampon too because **** you."
