Exactly. Like say something along the lines of, "Honey, right now I'm feeling very unsure of myself and a little insecure." I'm sure he would have tried to make you feel better. There's a difference between fishing for compliments and actually discussing how you're feeling about yourself. Sorry you feel so down but saying those things to your partner won't really help you feel better about yourself.
