Today, I was at a swim meet. I was on a relay team and I was the anchor. My team was in 1st. I was ready to dive in when I saw my tampon string was hanging out of my suit. I freaked, slid off the block, and fell on top of the guy before me and gave him a concussion. We got DQed for a false start FML

Today, I swam in a race against all of the girls in the midwest in the hardest, longest, most grueling race you can swim. I won. Happy but so tired I could barely move, I looked up to see my time. I had been disqualified. For flinching. Before the race started. FML

Today, a new session started for my swimming squad. I walked down to the pool, tripped over a stray equipment bag, and belly-flopped into the pool in front of everyone, fully clothed. I'm the coach. FML

Today, we were hanging around the pool with a couple of friends and a crush of mine. Thinking I would be able to impress her with a well-performed dive off the diving board, I went up and attempted my best dive. I slipped as I jumped, hitting my head on the board. I had to be saved by the lifeguard. FML

Today, I went swimming. While I was walking along side of the pool, everyone was staring at me. I began to think that my diet was really working. It was only an hour later, in the changing rooms, that I noticed the string from my Tampax that was sticking out of my swimming costume. FML

Today, I went to the pool. When I hit the water the top of my swimsuit came off so I tried to put it on underwater. The lifeguard thought I was drowning and pulled me out in front of everyone. Topless. FML

Today, I tried to impress our swim team coach by doing a complicated backflip from the diving board. I landed face-first in the pool and had to be rescued by the lifeguard, so I guess I won't be going to the Olympics any time soon. FML

Today, I had a gymnastics meet. I thought I was done with my period, but when I was up on the beam warming up my routine, one of my coaches called me down and told me that I apparently wasn't. My coach goes around asking my teammates moms if they had any pads. My dad caught this all on tape. FML

Today, I was at a swim meet, swimming as hard as I'd ever swum before. During the last lap I saw no one in the lanes next to me. Thinking I was first, I became extremely excited. When I came to the wall, I realized the reason no one else was around: They already finished the race. I was last. FML

LOL. #1 your a jerk. anyway, that sucks, but if your a girl, how did you fall on top of a guy? girls and guys dont swim relays together. anyway its not like you could do anything about it right before you dove off, so it woulda just been easier to swim the whole thing and tuck it back in when you finished and were still in the water. its not that big of a deal i mean everyone knows girls have to wear tampons when they swim.

#9 No that's why when you go swimming and want to avoid your tampon string hanging out, you cut the string down so it's just long enough for you to be able to pull out the tampon, but not long enough to stick out the suit...

we have mixed swim relays here at schools. the OP coulda been at a school or something. sorry to hear that, it sucks. try not to worry bout it next time :(

I've never had a mixed relay outside of practice and I did competitive swimming for four years. Both for the city and for high school. Are you a really small team/school?

We only had 2 guys on my hs swim team. We always had at least one co-ed team for relays. That sucks, but #2 is right. Girls doing any sport competitively need to get over their periods - especially if teammates are depending on you. YDI

Get over it? I'm guessing you're a boy because when your on your period and swimming, it's always at the back of your head. And maybe OP though because the tampon string was hanging out more than it should, her tampon was slowly falling out?

just so you guys know, im a compeitive swimmer, and for some meets, if they aren't organized properly, girls and guys will swim in the same race, and be on the same relay team. its happend to me. i still think this is kinda dumb tho. YDI
