Today, I wandered around my property with my children, trying to find our escaped house cat. While in the more wooded parts, we spotted her on the ground, being picked over by a coyote. FML

Today, I found my lost cat. As I was hooking it up to a leash to get it in my car, a man approached and asked what I was doing. His kids alerted him that there was a woman stealing their cat from their front lawn. It was not my cat. FML

Today, as I returned from work, a cat was meowing at me in a bush. I said hi to it and walked inside. Then I noticed one of my cats was nowhere to be found. After a bit of panicking, I finally figured out that cat in the bush was MY cat, and he was meowing because he was stuck. I don't know how he got outside. FML

Today, I found my cat downstairs with a squirrel dangling from his mouth. When I saw this, I yelled at my cat to put it down. He did. Turns out the squirrel was still alive and run. I had to spend the next three hours chasing it out of my house. FML

Today, my cat escaped through my front door. It was dark out, so I had no idea where I was going. I finally caught up to him in my neighbour’s lawn and I gave him heck for scaring me. It took me a minute to realize I was actually talking to a bush in their flowerbed. FML

Today, my mother's beloved cat died and we thought it would be nice to bury it in the back yard. I came home from work and while walking to the door saw that the cat had been dug up and partially eaten by the local raccoons and strays. FML

Today, my cat got out. I was chasing him in the field behind my backyard, barefoot while wearing PJs, yelling my head off like a raving lunatic. The field soil was sludge, and my feet sunk right in with every step. After I got him, I heard a snap of a soda can. My neighbours were there the whole time, watching. FML

This is why people shouldn't let their cats go outside. Too many wild animals out there that would love a tasty kitty snack :( (Also, yes, I understand that in this situation, the cat escaped. I am simply making a statement in regards to other people who might let their cats outside.)

You are not a cat. There have been studies that show that house cats are generally as happy, if not happier than out door cats. Indoor cats live longer, and are healthier.

Cats are generally curious, and it's in their instincts to want to go out and explore, hunt, climb, there is no stopping that, it's sad that the poor cat was killed by the coyote, and the kids saw the aftermath, but it happens.

What a ridiculous comment. Of course cats should be allowed outside. So long as they're not declawed (which in itself is stupid IMO) and they have some basic intellect, they're fine.

I'm not saying don't let your cat outside, I'm saying don't act like one is better than the other. Cats are naturally curious but they don't think "I'm bored why won't they let me outside" they think "ooh what's that I shall smell it." they don't need to go outside to be stimulated as long as you give them attention. I hate when people act like having a indoor cat is cruel.
