I'm betting you were awed by the magnitude of his perpendicular line, and he was probably even more awed at the volume of your conical projections. Do you postulate, "Bisect my angle!" every time you reach your local maximum?

It was originally in intimacy, I think that's why. No one looks there, and FMLs just sit with no comments for about five minutes. That... Or he's just pulling the awesome psychic card out of his ass.

what's the point of a polynomial function when it has an asymptote in which you can't touch the curves? the asymptote being the computer in this case. btw, definitely loving the math jokes

I know for a fact we worked with polynomials in Calc I and II (as well as abstract algebra but that's another story) and I believe we worked with them in pre-calc as well, but I could be wrong on that.

If he is on webcam with her he shouldn't be doing his homework, or vice versa. She has every right to think that if they are on webcam with each other he will pay attention to her.

There is a time for work/study, and there is a time for pleasure/girlfriend. The OP should learn that they can't be mixed. He was in the work mod, so no time for g/f - simple as that.

Then why would he have gotten on a webchat with her? IMO if he could break away for a conversation, then he should have at least looked at the screen. Work mode may overpower, but I'm sure even you would notice someone showing off their body and flirting with you at a glance over webcam, where there are zoom functions and whatnot. FYL OP, FYL

Oh, and maybe they had agreed on a specific time for a "webchat date." I know I've had them while in college with my long distance bf. She could feel slighted because it was supposed to be her time, and it wasn't

Or, #34, he could have had his computer set to automatically accept webcam request from her. I have everything set to auto-accept for my girlfriend so she can send me files or turn on the cams even if I've gotten up to get something. She might have turned it on without his realizing.

They're only curvier for degree n>4. Seriously, don't feel slighted. It was a great gesture on your part, but some people have a hard time switching between a work mindset and a supah sexi mindset. It doesn't mean that you're not attractive, or that he doesn't feel excited by you and your body. It's like a blind spot: when I'm working, I won't notice a hot girl flirting with me until hours later when my friends or coworkers point it out. (Then I'll be all, "WTF? She was flirting? Oh, man, she was hot! Quick, gotta find her again!") If you need to feel sorry for somebody, you shouldn't feel sorry for yourself; feel sorry for your boyfriend, the poor guy who can't switch gears easily enough to appreciate a girl in a negligee staring right at him.

People tend to tune out distractions when they're studying. This really has nothing to do with how interesting or attractive he finds you relative to his work, so don't take it personally.

I also know plenty of people in college who took precalc mostly because they thought it was an easy A or they were to lazy to take the math placement test and skip into calc.

I also know people who take pre-calc in college. Its because they suck at math and need a semester of calculus for their major. Its better to take pre-calc before calc so that you know what you are doing when you get to a more difficult class. That way you do not fail, mess up your gpa, and have to retake the class again. Its not because they are lazy, they simply do not have that particular talent.

I took pre-calc my freshman year of college and I'm a senior math major, writing a thesis on perfect graphs. I took pre-calc when I was 16, had to study for math for the first time in my life... didn't understand the concept of studying for math, got a B+, first non-A I'd ever gotten in a math class, and was like screw this, I'm taking statistics. I thought I was going to be a psych major and wouldn't need to take calc... a math professor convinced me during orientation that calculus was an important part of a liberal arts education so I took pre-calc again, did well in it, got through my calc series, and continued to intermediate and upper division math courses. So no, you don't have to be bad at math or lazy to take pre-calc in college.

Where I live, you HAVE to take Precalculus to take Calculus. So most people over here take it when they're Juniors or Seniors. Unless you've taken advanced maths over the years, you're able to take it your Sophomore year.

#76: Wait, wait, wait. So, let me get this straight: You thought Pre-Calc required too much studying - so you decided to take STATISTICS?! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *wheeze* HAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!! Good luck with that!

my high school doesn't even teach calculus anymore. there's linear algebra and data management. we just take calculus courses at college or university.. making us 17, 18, or older before we're exposed to it.

#133 High school AP statistics required much less studying than high school AP Calculus. Real statistics at the undergraduate level that require probability as a prerequisite is a completely different story, and yes, is much more difficult than calculus. In fact, I've been too scared to take probability, so the closest I'll probably get to statistics (which isn't that close) is combinatorics.

FML is not an opportunity to relate your life story as a math geek. It is an opportunity to laugh at the silly girl in the negligee who thinks the world revolves around her because she needs to be the center of attention. So put away your math books for a few minutes, close out your Matlab session and laugh at the silly drama queen in the negligee.

I am 20 and have never gotten past algebra 2... It is not required learning to go past there... the vast majority DON'T next would have been trig then pre-calc so i could have had it senior year... With how my school system is set up taking it before then you have to be in an advance learning system to even get to it before 17/18 at which point a negligee is completely acceptable... Also as a side not i regret not having taken it, or taking school seriously... but on topic at hand she deserves it

Um here in ohio, yes you took it at 15 in high school but the lowest level in my college was also called pre-calc which you can take at any age.

I've got to disagree with you there, as a former AP Calc student (got a 5 hell yes!) and current AP Stat student, AP Stat has required a lot more of me than AP Calc did. I'm actually needing to set aside time for the class just so I can understand the material; something that I've never really had to do for math classes. I suppose it could be said that it differs with different people, considering that different skills are used for each subject.

In my school we take it in senior year, maybe. My school is one of the best of the country apparently, and we're ahead of a lot of schools. So I think it's safe to say they could be in college.

Maybe his college career (or whatever) is just a little more important than watching you prance around in lingerie for a half hour. You must be pretty concieted to be pissed off by this.

Yeah I mean I HATE math with a passion but I still hate it even more when someone bothers me while I'm trying to work, and just get something done so I can knock it off my list. When he was done there would be plenty of time for sexy games. Until then let the man do his work!
