Today, I told my mother I got engaged. Her reply was a great heaving sigh, followed by ,"OK… So how's work going?" She showed more excitement last week when my brother managed to properly make Kraft macaroni. FML

Today, I was busy going over wedding plans with my fiancé, when my mother called. Apparently, she wants me to "drop the joke" about this "fake engagement", because she was under the impression I was only dating a white guy to piss her and dad off, and was now getting carried away with it. FML

Today, I announced my engagement. My mother's response was to freak out and demand that I postpone my wedding indefinitely. Why? My younger sister caught the bouquet at a wedding last year, so "she has to get married first!" My sister has been single for 3 years and showers once a week. FML

don't take her lack of enthusiasm to heart op, everyone has an in-law they're not ecstatic about..maybe your mom has a good reason to be that way, does she have a couple bad marriage years behind her? Maybe if you tell her you wished she would be happy for you, she will notice how insensitive her reaction was..Talk with her, maybe she has a good reason for her reaction..and if she simply doesn't like him for no good reason and thinks he's not good enough for you for no real reason, than let it go and be happy anyway :) it's your life not hers, OP!
