Today, I met the man of my dreams. Hot, funny, smart, sensitive, he guesses at what I need before I ask for it. Too bad I'm his superior officer, and even flirting is a major crime. FML

You could just talk and get to know him better before judging you really like him. I mean that stuff is helpful before a relationship

Since OP thinks he's funny, smart, and sensitive, it seems to me that OP knows him enough to judge whether OP likes him or not.

It says she met the man of her dreams, meaning she met him today. She obviously doesn't actually know him enough to make that call yet. Yeah, under normal circumstances she could flirt, but these aren't normal circumstances at all.

That does not matter if she does get to know him better. She is his superior officer, meaning she is in the military. She would be a fool to get demoted to just be with him (seeing as getting demoted in the military is extremely difficult) and if she transfers him, she won't see him again

Is it a crime if you do it when not at work?

They both seem to be active military, meaning to some degree, they are ALWAYS working.

Don't. It'd be bad if a male officer did it, it'd be just as bad if you did it. Being on the receiving end of advances from someone with authority over you, even in a civilian setting, is a really awful experience for the person. Especially since many of them feel like they CAN'T say "no" because of the amount of people in higher positions that would get pissy about it. That said, hopefully it's just a crush and will fade quickly so you don't have that temptation.

Wow that's tough op, maybe after you're (or he, whoevers contract ends first) is out of the military you can start dating? I'm afraid that's pretty much the best that can happen in this situation. Hopefully it works out in the end!
