Now you can be that guy on crutches that makes other people feel better about their situations! But I agree, that really does suck.

So his life sucks because he got laid off? What about the bad karma? I thought we were a heartless community that says, down goes the guy who deserved it.

That's happened to me. With all sorts of medical issues I have, I always boasted that I'd never broken a bone. Last year, I broke my wrist and a few months later, I broke my ankle and leg. I jinxed myself big time!

The good news is that after hard times, there's good times. Heal up, take a break, then get back out there and find a better job.(:

I don't see what OP did wrong according to the FML. It's not bad to say you're grateful that you're an abled person.

This isn't karma. OP was thinking his situation could be a lot worse when he saw someone on crutches and then found himself in pretty much the same situation after he hurt his knee.

He was looking on the bright side and then had it ruined by an ironic situation. How is that karma? It's sad.

Good luck finding another job, I hope it gets better from now, sometimes you need to hit the bottom so you can rise back up!

I thought myself unfortunate when I had no shoes, until I saw the man with no feet...who had stolen my shoes
