Today, I got hit by a car while riding my bike to work. In the hospital, every single nurse lectured me about how I wouldn't be here if I wore a helmet, which I'm sure would be really helpful to my broken leg. FML

Today, I was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car while on my bicycle. The police officer said it was my fault for not looking, even though the car pulled up without looking. I now have a small herniated disc in my neck and abrasions on my thigh. FML

Today, while driving to work, an idiot pulled out of a junction without looking and wiped me out. I'm now in hospital with two broken legs, looking at employment pages because I didn't give work "enough notice" about my absence. FML

Today, my bike abruptly stopped working, torpedoing me headfirst into the sidewalk. I lay there in agony for a few minutes, and the only guy who saw it happen said, "Lucky you didn't get hurt!" FML

Today, I was riding an electric scooter on my way to work when a car sped out of a driveway and hit me. Not only did I end up in hospital, but I missed my job on the second day back. FML

Today, I'm recovering from a bad motorcycle crash that could have cost me my life. A truck pulled out in front of me while going 60. Luckily I only have a broken arm and a fractured sternum. I was just notified by my attorney that the guy at fault has no insurance or assets to his name. FML

Today, after I fell over and fractured my knee, I've been in hospital for a week. I now have a metal plate in my knee, and am due to be off work for months, I wouldn't mind as much if I hadn't been hit by a car two years ago, spent a week in hospital for a fractured vertebrae, and was off work for months. FML

Today, I didn't feel like going to work, so I called in sick. Five hours later while out shopping, I got hit by a car at a crosswalk. Now I'm laid-up in the local hospital, really wishing I was with the guys at work. FML

Okay first, I witnessed a guy on his bike get hit by the car in front of me 2 weeks ago. Entirely the bicyclists fault because he went against the light so nobody should talk about the driver at all without the full story. Second, The guy I saw landed right on his face with no helmet. The nurses may be confused about avoiding a broken leg with a helmet but they are definitely not wrong about the helmet. You're lucky, it could have been much worse.

I was in a similar accident recently, I was hit by a car on my bike as I rode it through a cross-walk on a green light. A truck turning right didn't see me coming and bam. The paramedics and nurses at the hospital lectured me about helmets too...they've seen preventable head injuries and they're only trying to save your brain from exploding all over the road. I've started wearing a helmet, and the fact that I thought I was too cool for it before seems idiotic now.
