Today, I got back from my daughter's flat in Scotland. I got a flight there yesterday morning to surprise her on her 21st birthday. Nobody told her I was coming. When I got there, it turned out she decided to get a plane to London to surprise me. £200 on flights, and I didn't even get to see her. FML

And she spent the same and didn't get to see you. Only it's worse for her because she just wasted her 21st birthday. Oh, I just said 1st. Yehey!

I seen like 20 FMLs like this. You would think people would learn. Oh well FYL

But a wonderful story to tell at parties for the next several decades! What are the odds? Just smile at the irony. I'm sure you'll be able to see her soon.

Agreed. FYL though. It must be tough not to see your baby on her big day but at least you know she loves you and misses you as much as you miss her. Odd that one of you couldn't have caught an earlier flight so as to spend some time together.

Why do I feel like I've read this before? Oh wait...

the thought was there I suppose ;) happy birthday to your daughter!! x

why would anyone tell her that you were coming? you said it was gonna be a surprise... that really sucks, though! you both are obviously really thoughtful and have very similar ways of thinking!

I think she's just backing up the fact that it's a surprise, but I can see what she means. She wishes people would have stopped her daughter going to London to see her, when they knew she'd be coming up to Scotland.

awww. I feel so sorry for you. I hope you can see her another time! :*(

if it was a SURPRISE, why would you expect someone to have told her you were coming? wouldn't that kinda, y'know, ruin your surprise?

Why would you expect someone to tell her if you wanted it to be a surprise? Complete contradiction there. YDI
