Today, I found out that the fact that I'm going into premedical and have graduated high school means nothing to my family. They would prefer to be more upset with the fact that I hugged my girlfriend in a graduation photo and hugged her again when she gave me my graduation gifts, Fml

Oh my, you hugged a girl, but they have cooties!! On a serious note, your parents really have some priorities there, don't focus on the fact that your kid is successful, focus on the 2 innocent hugs with someone of the opposite sex. You just graduated, so you're probably around 17/18, basically a legal adult. Your parents need to grow up, they should be able to handle you interacting with your gf without freaking out, they're being very immature. You should talk with them, having intimate contact with your significant other, especially something as innocent as a hug, is not only completely natural, but healthy. Congratulations on the high school grad and premed though, OP, good luck with everything.

Just let the negative comments and pressure slide right off you, if you can. This is good practice for the future. As a medical practitioner of any kind, you will be subjected to criticism and abuse on a daily basis, and questioned in nearly interaction. Get used to saying or feeling "I am doing as I see fit to do" with calmness, serenity, and grace. And get away from your parents sooner rather than later.
