Today, I finished booking the non-refundable cruise for my wife and I to the Bahamas. I did this after confirming once again that my mother could take care of our son while we're away. An hour after I paid, she called back saying she mistook the dates and can't do it anymore. FML

Today, the cruise that I was looking forward to for over a year was cancelled due to the coronavirus. Trying to salvage what was left of my vacation, I booked a hotel for a few days near a local beach. They just announced that the beach was closed and the hotel is refusing to refund my money. FML

Today, I learned that my son’s godmother forgot about the baptism date and booked a family holiday to Italy. Her mother is also on the trip and she is the officiant. I gave them both the date over 6 months ago. Everything is already booked on our side for that date. FML

Today, my girlfriend bought two tickets for a cruise to the Bahamas. Too bad the second ticket isn't for me. I guess her ex-boyfriend will have a wonderful time with her. FML

Today, I told my boyfriend I wouldn't be able to get any time off work to go to Mexico with him, and that we'd have to get our tickets refunded, and reschedule. He said not to bother, and that he already had someone else in mind to take with him. FML

Today, my boyfriend and I arrived at our pre-paid hotel for a romantic evening. When we went to sign in, they had no reservation for us, however they did yesterday. The payment is non-refundable. FML

Today, unbeknownst to me, my wife cancelled our airplane tickets because she didn't want to face her fear of flying like we had agreed. Now, we're going to have to take another week off so I can drive 3000 miles cross country, while she sleeps in the shotgun seat because her licence expired. FML

Today, my mother offered to pay for my tickets to go see my girlfriend who I haven't seen for 6 months. She was happy to pay for the £130 flight, but then refused half way through the purchase because she wasn't going to "let the buggers charge £13 extra" for using her credit card. FML

Why don't you ask another relative? Failing that, why don't you get a babysitter? I know it might be expensive, but think about it this way: no matter what, you've already bought your cruise ticket. You're never getting that money back. Therefore, whatever you pay the babysitter is exactly the cost of your cruise.

I probably wouldn't like the idea of leaving my child in the care of someone I haven't been familiar with since birth. You can never be sure of what someone will do to your child when you're away. If I leave my kid with my mom, I know that she's going to care for them with her life. Plus, she raised me and I like how I turned out. I'm guessing OP feels the same way.

They hopefully have other relatives or family friends who can help. When I was a kid my mom and dad went on a trip and left us with neighbors--of course, that was in the 1970s when people KNEW their neighbors.

When I read the coments it feels like many ppl here have serious problems with their parents.. Hope you guys clear stuff up and enjoy your family life. /2Cents (Pennies! Discontinued now in Canada, Lol. Round Down?) Maybe OP's mom is old and unfortunately got mixed up. OP just try and work something, hopefully your mom will be helpful.
