Today, I felt inspired to create a photo album of myself through the years. As I was organizing the photos of my childhood, I noticed how many my mom was holding me and hugging me in. When she came home from work I jokingly asked, "When did you start hating me?" She replied, "When you were 4". FML

Today, my 4 year old daughter was ripping out photos of the family photo book, I asked her why she was doing it she answered, "I saw mummy doing it to another book." The only other family photo book was the day we got married. FML

Today, I was looking at baby photos of me with my mom. I realized that I was making a funny face in some of them, particularly when smiling. I asked my mom if that was a silly face I used to like making. She replied, "Oh, honey no, you had Bell's Palsy until you were two." FML

Today, I rummaged around in the attic, looking for old pictures of me and my family, so I could make a surprise collage. Instead, I found my dad's old journals, talking about how desperately he didn't want a kid, and how he wanted to leave my mother more and more every day that passed since I was born. FML

Today, while at a family reunion, my parents kept bringing up horrible things I did when I was about 4-6 years-old that I've been trying to forget for decades. After a while, I just stormed out. When I came back in the room, my dad had the nerve to ask me why I left and why I wasn't talking to him. FML

Today, I found one of my mom's old diaries that dated back to my infant days. I couldn't help but read a little. I'm now in great concern over how many times my mom wrote that she wanted to dunk me in the toilet or throw me against a wall. FML

FML needs a spin-off site for people who can't take a joke, call it ICTAJ. Half this site would immediately be ported over there and they'd have another revenue stream. Seriously OP, you joked with your mom, she joked back. If a joke of "when did you stop loving me?" is witty and clever, then "when you were four" is certainly a great response. Another case of someone who feels okay making jokes, but gets all sensitive sally when they get one right back.

I second that. Growing up, my parents always used to say, "Don't dish it out if you can't take it," meaning that if you can't stand teasing, don't tease people. It's surprising how many FMLs revolve around the theme of not understanding humor. I suppose OP's life would be better if her mom took her seriously and burst into hurt, hysterical tears?
