Today, I convinced my father that "Juanito", our relative who needed money for immediate surgery in Mexico was a stranger attempting to scam him. I was $1400 too late. FML

Unless you actually have Mexican relatives, why would he believe it in the first place? Common sense seems to go out the window when someone says, "give me money I need surgery"

Juanito the sketchy cousin strikes again.

This is why some older folks shouldn't mix with technology! my mother often tries to email website addresses.

But you can do that bt emailing the URL, no? Unless you meant something different, in which case, do tell.

This isn't all that bad, I know someone that spent close to 20k to get bring a model from Africa over here, she didn't step off the plane...

for that amount of money why not just go to Africa yourself and see if she's real. If so bring her back and if not, well you're out a whole lot less money

I still can't get over the fact that people can fall for this type of scams...

I guess it takes Juan, to know Juan. I'll leave...

lucky for you I'm a long lost wealthy relative who has fallen ill you are all I have left and would like to leave my 200 million dollar forturne to you all I need is your bank account and routing number to wire the money to you. love cousin Vinny

Gosh, I hope Juanito pulls through! Emergency surgery can be dicey. Tell Dad that his second cousin, thrice removed, Captain Phillips has been taken hostages by Somali pirates and you need $30,000 for the ransom. Then, buy a nice car and go see the movie!

My name is Sara I live in Colorado. My address is 1212 faraway lane. My home was washed away in a flood. Please send 1400. Xo

It seems the need for emergency surgery runs in your family. Your dad clearly needs a new brain as his is broken. Btw hope your cousin pulls through lol.
