Today, I auditioned for a part in a play. I've been practicing for months, and was very excited. After I'd finished singing, the director whispered something to the other judges, and they all laughed. Hard. So much for the lead role. FML

Today, I was trying out for a play I really wanted to be in. After my audition, I was feeling really good. She said she would post the cast list tomorrow. Not knowing where she would post it, I asked her. Her reply? "It doesn't matter. You won't be on it anyway." FML

Today, I had been practicing for a solo in a choir I’m in. I finally got it down and was all ready to audition. On audition night, the choir director let me try out, then decided all the sopranos should sing it. FML

Today, I had a completely improvised audition for the school play. The director called me and one of the cutest guys auditioning to improvise an intimate scene. Knowing that I'm a complete klutz, I wasn't all that surprised when I tripped over my feet and landed with my face in his crotch. He was. FML

Today, I had a piano audition for a musical. Afterwards, the judge asked if I had any experience with percussion, and then told me she was considering me for a percussion part. I guess my piano audition really was THAT bad. FML

Today, I auditioned for a part and made it because the director thought I would be "perfect" for the part and I was "just like the character in every way." The part is for a schizophrenic drug addict who everyone hates and is stabbed to death in the second scene. FML

It takes years of training to get good at singing. Then once you have a voice it would probably still take a couple months to learn the songs and nail the lead role. You might have underestimated this a little.

Well, either you underestimated your singing ability, or you need more coaching to be able to really nail it, or maybe you screwed it up because of nerves? It sucks that you put so much effort in to just be laughed at, but sometimes things happen. Or maybe there was something else they were laughing about? It might not have been the singing.

Stop thinking it's all about you. They could have been laughing about something else... Even if the laughter had to do with you, what does it matter? Take it in stride and work on your singing before the next musical. Get a vocal coach, improve yourself, get on with things.
