People over react so bad sometimes. It is ridiculous and unnecessary, especially older people it seems. Think they can get away with anything cause they can pull the "I'm so frail and old" card if someone tries to stick up for themselves. It's a load of BS, and I'm sorry you had to deal with that

In the Netherlands, where OP lives, it's perfectly legal to have your dog with you on the train or bus, as long as it's on a leash and doesn't cause any trouble.

I have a fox and a dog as a pet. To my understanding it isn't illegal. I think people just don't think of them as traditional pets and automatically assume it must be wrong. Just guessing though

Honestly I'd have to look it up again but last I checked it wasn't illegal anywhere. Times do change, however, so I will admit I might be wrong that it isn't illegal

My Shiba's nickname is fox-dog. She even has her own theme song (na na na na na fox dog!!! to the tune of the batman song). And when we go places, people always make comments about how she looks like a fox. So yeah, it's pretty normal to hear.
