Why would you cut his claws anyway?
Cat's claws get very sharp and long if they don't wear them down properly so sometimes you have to manually cut them
Well sure, but you've got to be super careful. Cats are meant to have their claws shed in sheathes, and the quick is quite close to the surface, so having the claws clipped is both unnatural and painful for the animal. I'm not surprised OP's cat had this sort of reaction.
We were advised by our vet to cut both of our cats claws regularly. Our female cat has zero issue getting her claws clipped because she's excited for a treat afterward. Our male, however, was adopted knowing he had severe anxiety issues. He literally climbed six feet of chicken wire fence to get away from us because he was scared of people, and we knew if some little girl said "Daddy I want that one!" he would have been taken home and returned several times by different families. We've had him for two years and he still will barely let my husband touch him and runs away if one of us gets up too suddenly. But! It's not entirely sad, he seemed to decide I was his person and follows me all around the house and loves to get "mama cuddles" and will come running when I ask him if he wants them. He's actually laying on my chest as I type this.
I wrap my kitten in a towel and make him a "purrito"! it seems to help with anything that they don't like!
Wow, your cat is taking his rebellion to the max.
