Today, after being lost for 3 hours outside with low battery, and finally regaining signal, an old man came up to me and grabbed my phone, threw it somewhere and lectured me about how I need to "enjoy life" and stop wasting time on my phone. FML

dude there was like this 50 year old guy who did this same thing to me except i wasn't lost or anything and i pushed him and we got in a huge fight then he went to jail

What a complete asshole. Who the hell takes someone's phone and chucks it? I don't care who the hell you are that's such a dick move. I really wonder what goes on in some people's minds.

No kidding. I'm sure there was damage to the phone. Not only are they expensive to replace, but you never know what kind of pictures and memories are on someone else's phone that might not be recoverable. So rude.

I know he had good intentions but he expressed this in a horrible and rude way. He could have spoken with you in a polite way instead of taking your property and destroying it because "you're wasting your life on your phone." you should have taken his wallet and his money because "money is the root of all evil." and buy yourself a new phone.
