Today, after being a germaphobe for almost ten years and refusing to go out to restaurants because of it, I finally had the courage to face my fear, and went to dinner with my family. After three bites into my salad, I found a dead bug in it. FML

Today, I attempted to conquer my fear of eating out. The very first thing I saw as soon as I got to the restaurant? An unconscious guy getting taken away by paramedics. I turned around and went straight home. FML

Today, instead of reaching for some unhealthy food, I tried to eat some dates instead. It was all fine until I bit one in half and saw a rather large, squirming maggot inside. FML

Think about it this way: you faced one of the worst scenarios possible, and lived through it. Don't give up just yet. I'm sure if you tried again, you'd have a much better experience, and be well on your way to conquering your phobia.

Could be worse. A restaurant down the street from where I used to live once served a woman a sliver of a chef's thumb (he had sliced it while chopping vegetables) in her salad.

That really is disgusting, if you tell the manager they'll usually give you a new dish & they won't charge you. Not that it makes your fear any better, but it would give you your money back.
