Today, a guy I blocked online for sending me creepy messages showed up at my house. I have no idea how he found my address, or even my real name. FML

These days with the internet people can find out almost anything by knowing the smallest thing about you. File a report with the police as soon as possible and place a restraining order on him if you know his name. Stay safe OP

guys... op is from the Netherlands.... no second amendement, and if it's like Germany no restraining orders just for showing up somewhere... but srsly op did you ever 'check in' somewhere? are you in fb-groups related to anything? 'friends' who could have given him information?

a lot of times the cases that I deal with the stalker knows the person or found out their name first then they can find out pretty much everything else through the Internet or social media not the other way around

I experienced this whilst doing online dating. You could Google search with my profile picture, which lead to my Facebook page. Then you've got my real name and the town I live in, from that you can search my name (I have an uncommon name so I was the only result) and it came up with my address, my email, phone number, how much my parents' house is worth... so I had to request these websites remove my information, along with Google. I would highly recommend Googling yourself, if you're in the UK it's likely the government sold your information from the last census to third parties and all that information is online.
