Today, a few weeks after teaching my dog to fetch my phone and drop it in my lap, he decided to do it spontaneously. Too bad I was in the bath at the time. There goes a $300 phone. FML

Then...why did you train a dog to pick up a $300 phone in his mouth full of sharp teeth in the first place? Surely that was an accident waiting to happen, bath or not.

Just because you can lead a dog to water doesn't mean we can make him drink and if he does then clearly have to expect that he will drop whats in his mouth in order to have that drink

Very impressive training but dogs should fetch sticks and balls, not phones.

I agree with #10. Hopefully you didn't scold him for doing something he didn't know was bad. He was just doing what you trained him to do. Maybe just train him to drop it near arm's reach.

Yeah bad idea to train a dog to put something like that in his mouth. Not only could he chew it up, the saliva could ruin it too. Your fault all the way.

The rice trick does work. Take the battery out, put the phone and battery in dry rice. leave for a few days. I dropped my phone in water a few times and saved it like this.
