This Gay Lawmaker Will Call Your Grandma If You're A Troll On The Internet

By Nadine / mercredi 11 avril 2018 10:00
Honestly, what would nana think?

Brian Sims is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and the state's first openly gay lawmaker. It almost goes without saying that Sims has experienced plenty hate on the internet from trolls and bigots.

Most people who are in the public eye choose to simply ignore hate speech, as it is an unfortunate but persistent reality when working in the public sphere. Sims, however, has taken a different approach to dealing with it.

When one troll attacked the lawmaker, Sims did not take it lying down. Instead, he did what any mature adult would do. He called the troll's grandma, had a long chat with her about his dissapointment in her grandson's actions, and then took to Facebook to give a bit of advice.

"Dear Bigots, posting your grandmother's telephone number all over the same page you use to post slurs on other people's pages is not going to end well for you. Brian"

Sims told Occupy Democrats that the troll’s grandmother was very receptive, and that although she didn't know where her grandson was, she would make sure that he returned the call.

“She was very pleasant and clearly taken aback by the call. I explained who I was and what I was calling about.

“She wasn’t kidding. I heard from him within 2 hours and while I can’t say we resolved anything, I can pretty much guarantee that Christmas at my home is going to be better than his this year.”

The world would be a much better place if we all acted like grandma was watching.

If you're more concerned with the correctly used term of "bigot" than what the opposition put out, then you clearly need to reevaluate your vocabulary and morals. Good day.

Well when you decide to use highly offensive racist and homophobic slurs out of your lack of a brain, you get your grandma phoned by a lawmaker. Stupidity isn't an excuse

Uh oh, looks like FML triggered the assholes whole like to be edgelord on the Internet. Poor kids, guess they didn’t know that what you do on the Internet actually does have consequences.

The guy is a legend though

Nobody is freaking at the idea that this dumb bigot posts his grandmother's phone number on FB? I mean OK, this time it's a guy who's on a mission to make life harder for the bigot, but it could easily have been someone who decided to mess with Grandma! I fear for this poor lady!
