She'll be all right; i hate babysitting her because she does shit like picking up dead animals a lot. My sister in law thinks it's cute she loves animals so much like that. Living animals, sure. She got 26 goddamn stitches on her face. Oh well. Serves my idiot brother right for procreating.

And your niece is going to hate you for the rabies shots (: look forward to a fun family Christmas because that story will haunt you until the end. I do hope she is ok though.

I had to log in for the first time in eons for this. WTF? 25 stitches to a little girls face and a world of emotional trauma, and your thoughts are that it serves your brother right for having a baby, with his wife??? Shes 5. It was an accident. Maybe be a more decent aunt and just say you're busy whenever they ask if you can babysit. Ffs.

Damn OP, maybe you shouldn't hang out with that poor kid anymore. You don't seem like a very good aunt. A 5 year old gets 26 stitches after what must have been a traumatising experience and all you can do is insult your brother for having a child?

Serves your brother right that his child got hurt while under the watch of his incompetent sister? I feel bad for this little girl having such a terrible aunt. You sound very bitter in general. I agree with what others have said, you should just stay away. You obviously don’t care about anyone other than yourself.

As a mom myself, I can attest to many things children do that cause themselves injury. I hope they’re only superficial scratches and that the animal didn’t give her a crazy infection or disease. I also hope for you and your future relationship with her and her parents that they understand it was a horrible accident and it could’ve happened with them taking her on a walk as well. Your niece will ever approach another animal lying on the ground like that again. Good luck OP. How scary.

On the plus side, she probably won't ever try to touch a squirrel again. And you now have a way to warn her away from touching any other animal "Do you remember what happened when you touched that squirrel? Right. If you touch [plague bearing animal] it will probably do the same thing to you."
