Today, I asked my boyfriend to meet me in the park to talk. Just when I wanted to break up, he knelt down on one knee and proposed. I had to reject him in front of a whole crowd of people. FML

I bet you feel terrible now. If not, you should. He's been humiliated for loving you. I very you wanted to break up, you should have given me details about your reason for meeting in the park. I'm gonna get flak for this comment, but I don't care.

Ooo, that's painful. That sucks for him, but it's also not fair to you if you felt obligated to say yes because you were proposed to in a public setting. That's one reason I don't like public proposals - they could easily backfire.

I wonder if he proposed as some last attempt to be with you. I mean if you were thinking of leaving him surely he wasn't clueless enough to feel that you guys were in a place where he should propose. Probably "we need to talk in the park" was a heads up to him. If so he deserved it even more
