Help Me, I’m Old! Here Are 23 People Who Took to Twitter to Vent About Getting Old After Recognizing No One at the VMAs

You know you’re old when you’re watching the VMAs and can’t name any of the artists on screen. That’s what tons of viewers realized last night while watching the award show on MTV. As these newly deemed old-timers reeled at the hordes of glittery teens sashaying across the blue carpet, they took to twitter to proclaim their FML.

Random boy bands, girl bands, Kardashian look-alikes and straight-up children. These describe some of the faces no one was able to put a name to last night.

There comes a time to face the music (which, ironically, you can’t find on MTV these days) and accept that you’re just not hip like you used to be. If you're not sure if this is you, there’s no better gauge than pop music. It’s everywhere. In ads, playing in stores, on the radio. You’d think just being surrounded by it, you’d absorb it somehow, like music osmosis or something. But nah. Sorry, bub, your time has passed. You’re officially too old for MTV.

Here are 23 other people who are too old for the VMAs:

it's not that we're old, it's just that none of the artist these days are that noteworthy. All the artist from the 50s 60s and 70s were from before my time, but I know who the hell Frank Sinatra, the Temptations and the Bee Gees were. And the kids today know who David Bowie, Prince and Nirvana were. Because they were good and their music is still good. No one will be listening to the boring crap they play now in ten years.

In reality, there was just as much dreck back then as there is now. Only difference is that the shit had faded into obscurity while only the very best of the best are remembered. Give it enough time and the exact same thing will happen to this decade.
