Cow Escapes From Slaughter, Breaks Farmer's Arm, And Swims to Safety
According to The Independent, last month, a heroic cow fighting for its life decided to make a break for it by refusing to get onto the truck that would be transporting it to the slaughter house. Is this is a Disney movie in the making?
The cow in question took drastic measures during its escape, even breaking the arm of the farmer that tried to reel it in, which makes sense for an animal that was aware they were being led to their unrightful death. Some may disagree, but we do horrible things to animals all the time, and just because we can't communicate with them verbally does not mean that they don't understand, feel fear, or pain.
The cow rammed through a metal fence and made a run to nearby Lake Nysa in the south of Poland. The farmer attempted to get the cow back for about a week, even getting firefighters involved, but eventually gave up and began making sure the cow was getting enough food to stay alive.
Politician and former singer, Pawel Kukiz, offered to pay to have the cow saved from death.
“She escaped heroically and infiltrated the island in the middle of the lake, where it remains today,” Kukiz said, according to Polish news magazine Wprost. “She did not succumb to firefighters who wanted to transport her by boat and she was still on the battlefield.
"I am not a vegetarian, but fortitude and the will to fight for this cow's life is invaluable. Therefore, I decided to do everything to cause the cow to be delivered to a safe place and in the second stage, as a reward for her attitude, give her a guarantee of a long-term retirement and natural death.”
